Homeschool Tuesdays

Fun-filled, hands-on educational adventures will encourage your students to wonder, explore and create every Tuesday at the Discovery Center.  Plus give you a break from the classroom! Our workshops are designed to meet the Science Standards for Grades 3, 4, & 5.

Each monthly block of three sessions is $22.00 for members and $27.00 for non-members.  Limited to 20 pre-registered participants. See below links for online registration.

 

February:  Environ-mentality!

2-7, 2-14, and 2-21 – Learn about what sustainability really means and why it’s important for our environment.  Experiment with the effects of air pollution, oil spills, and coal mining, while discovering ways to lessen our ecological footprint.

 March:  Rocket Science
3-6, 3-13, and 3-20 – This time, IT IS ROCKET SCIENCE! from aerodynamics, to methods of propulsion, to physics of flight, to properties of materials – we’re going to learn to make everyday objects defy gravity in these fun challenges!

April: Geology Rocks!
4-3, 4-10, and 4-17 – We are going to rock out like geoscientists, test like geochemists, preserve like archeologists, interpret like paleontologists, layer it like Sedimentologists, and learn about all the other -ologists we can fit into our class time! From earthquakes to volcanoes to farming, geology touches all parts of our lives. In a word, it ROCKS!

May: Discover DNA
5-1, 5-8, and 5-15 – Awesome experiments bring us an up close and personal view of DNA, while learning all about the blueprint of life! Uncover the structure of DNA through exploration and experimentation.
